After a year of videos, updates and work, I am very happy to say that Reynard City Chronicles is now available to download, and also available for print pre-order (in process of sorting out work with the printers). The info for buying your copy is on this page, but for those of you just joining us, you might wonder “What is Reynard City Chronicles?” We’re going to go over some questions you might have and hope you’ll join us for this exciting time!
Who is working on this?
The artwork is by Nicholas Webb and Strider Syd- Nicholas has been working on a number of Reynard City issues, while Syd has also provided some excellent promotional artwork, while together they worked on Issue 11 (No Going Back). The logo was provided by Jed Soriano, a fan favourite artist who has been incredibly supportive!
“AK Girl is back!
I was sad to learn that I’ve read all the free issues in their website they had to do more, they had to rebooted all the series for a reason and then a new adventure is beginning with our heroes: AK Girl, Wonder-Vixen and Hyper Rob. It begins with a master-piece (my favorite by now!) a brilliant story mix of RC Issue 4 and 6.
The drawings are really charming, the action is there, the humor’s there, I was really happy for the results of this new epic adventure of AK Girl.
A comic that I will suggest to everyone!” Elie Renard Delisle-Lafortune
The other comics are free. Why are you charging for Reynard City Chronicles?
This is a fair question to start off with. As you will see from the link, there is a £5 charge. The reason for that is that instead of a 22 page comic, you are getting a 40 page graphic novel, so you are getting more for your money. We are also including a Lucky Dip bonus extra, something we offered with the Indiegogo so you will also one of AK Girl Adventures, The Perfect Platinum Collection or the first audio short story on top of the graphic novel.
For people pre-ordering the printed version, we are also throwing in physical merchandise as well, something we are intending as a limited time offer. In the case of what we are charging for the print version (£10) this takes into account postage as well as the physical item (you will also receive a downloadable copy as well). For more information, have a look here.
What makes this different from the other comics?
We got feedback regarding the original stories, and during a period of a couple of months considered what worked and what didn’t. The story begins at a different point from the original webcomic series- rather than starting on the planet Animal Kingdom, we get to know Vibes as she learns about her identity as AK Girl.
Fans will recognise certain plot points from different issues (as well as the bonus issues) but the idea is what as many people to enjoy it as possible.
“WOW! WOW! WOW! Super congratulations Rob and to your artists and team! I am blown away! Literally read the comic in one-go and I am SO impressed by the art work and the energy of the writing. You should be VERY proud!” Natalie Knowles, artist
Will you be getting rid of the original webcomics?
No. Our team worked hard on the original Reynard City series and the work will still be there for you to download for free. We have renamed this section “Archive” just for the practical reason that it clearly sets out what are the original issues and which ones are the new ones (which is also why we called it Reynard City Chronicles!)
What about the video game/radio show/cartoon projects?
Those are on hold for now while we do the relaunch, though we will do all we can to support the actors that worked on that, watch this space!
I can’t afford to buy a download/print copy. Can I still support the project?
Yes you can- we have a number of ways you can support us, including Patreon, Paypal and if you have something you want to promote (a business, a commission page, a comic etc) we also have sponsorship packages. We also massively appreciate people sharing our posts, so if you follow us on Twitter, Deviantart, Facebook, Instagram etc please share our statuses, journals etc, as well as liking and subscribing our update channel and John Paul Guerra’s comic channel.
We’re also doing a fanart Halloween art contest, so you can help and potentially win prizes too (more info here)
However we can’t emphasise this enough- the more support we get, the more we can do. Avenues like Patreon have helped us get regular money to our artists, which will mean more consistent artwork and better quality.
I hear you’re having a launch party.
Yes, Tuesday 23rd October 6-9pm at The Gin Temple in Norwich (more info here) There will be food, themed cocktails and more. A special shoutout to Baobab Marketing who have co-organised for this, if you are in the Norwich area (or can make it down we’d love to have you there!)
But I can’t get to Norwich, I live in Los Angeles/Copenhagen/somewhere further away than Bungay!
We appreciate you can’t all get to Norwich (though you should, it’s “a fine city” as the signs say!) However, it would be brilliant if on Tuesday 23rd October you could get your copies in and get a drink so you can celebrate with us!
Norwich Kitty have not just helped raise money, but provided key services, contacts but most importantly supported me when mentally and emotionally I was at my lowest point, and it was their advice that helped inspire this reboot. Thanks to Jason, Jo, Jim and so many more (RIP Paul Rudd).
As well as Jed, Nicholas and Syd, a massive shoutout also has to go to artists like Susie Gander, Dan Butcher, John Paul Guerra, Piyper, William Butler, Jen Clare and so many more (will do pics below), as well as contributors like Hayley Evenett, Cmore Trix, Gizzy Linnell, Casandra Porter, the list goes on. This is a team effort and I promise never to forget that.
In short please do what you can to support Reynard City Chronicles and make it happen. It’s not just about one person, or one comic, but about a project. I don’t know why it stuck around for 11 years in my head, but because of all the people I’ve worked with and who have stuck with this I’m glad it did.
